Deceased Classmates
Sharon Frances White

Sharon Frances White:  If you knew her, you loved her.  She was proud and stylish, a fun-loving girl originally from Maryland with a classy New England accent, and she was my friend.

Sharon had so many things going for her.  She was smart, well-liked, and absolutely beautiful, both inside and out.  Sadly, we lost touch over the years, but I know she raised a large family and was a wonderful wife and mother ... before losing her battle with cancer.

To me, she will forever be "Franklin", a nickname Margie and I gave her because she hated her middle name ... I love ya'  Franklin.  You are missed.

Catherine (Parrish) Kempf-Heck
TOM ENDRES

Tom was more like a brother to me, since our families were friends from the time we were born.  He was a pleasant person to be around and is still remembered and missed.

Bill Siegrist '69

Some people have such genius that it's hard to get close enough to touch it. You appreciate it from a distance like viewing a mountain range from miles away, not ever walking the steep slopes or breathing the sharp air.

Being with Bill was like that-watching him stretch his long fingers over the piano keys keeping one eye on Mr. LeFavre as Charlotte turned the sheet music during choir practice or enjoying his brutally dry humor-just too wicked to not love.

Yes, Bill was dignified yet outspoken. Private yet always there to lend a helping hand. His sharp insight into human nature made him formidable and fragile at the same time.

I don't know where genius and humor like Bill's go after one passes but I have to believe that it continues to flow freely in and out of our hearts and minds as the gift he left for us.

It was a gas, Bill!

JANET ALAMPI
Stephen Leech Class of 1971

The following obituary appeared in the Coshocton Tribune in 1993.  I miss Steve and treasure the memories from our grade school years through high school and beyond.  He and I visited together at each other’s homes here in the West.  He lived a good life, full of love and laughter.  His partner, Richard, sadly has passed away, as well, from AIDS.  As a special tribute to him, during this Reunion, let’s remember his strong and steadfast stand for patience, tolerance, and justice.  Thank you, Steve, for a life well-lived.  You have been loved by many.    With love, Sue Wright

Jane Stoffer Sauer '68

Our hearts are still aching from the loss of our sister, Jane.  She passed away two days after her 57th birthday on March 21, 2007. Jane attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from CHS in 1968. She was a majorette during her high school years.  Jane received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Kent State University before marrying her high school sweetheart, Jeff Sauer (class of 67). They were married almost 35 years and had two children and 4 grandchildren. After the children left the nest, Jeff and Jane bought a farm in Pleasantville, Ohio and began to raise llamas.  Jane always loved furry things so she was so happy as a farm gal with her furry llamas, numerous cats, two dogs and loving family. Even though Jane was taken from us at such an early age, we have many fond memories to treasure.  She always said no one in high school knew who she was, but we are sure many of you remember her.

Sadly missed by her siblings,

Sandra Green Vajda

Sandy was beautiful. Those who knew her couldn't help but marvel at her beauty, that of an inner beauty as well as a physical one. She was my best friend. We confided in one another about everything. She also had a great sense of humor and was fun loving. We were always together in school, cruising Main Street, or going to Pizza Point. We spent many hours on the phone discussing heartfelt matters of teenage girls.

Sadly, we lost touch in later years, but she lives on in my memories, as well as those of her dear friends Dee Glover Cole and Chris Dew Sturtz.

Sandra Green Vajda left this earth on December 10, 2006. She is greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

"Helen, thy beauty is to me

Like those Nicean barks of yore,

That gently o'er a perfumed sea,

           The weary, wayworn wanderer bore

      To his own native shore."

Jeanne Mellett

Jeanne Mellett and I went to school at Sacred Heart.  I always thought it was great fun to go to the Mellett house because there was always something going on.  We took horseback riding lessons when we were younger and put on plays with her younger sister Patty in the Mellett basement.  She stayed at Sacred Heart through 8th grade but I went on to the middle school, and we kind of lost touch through high school.  I learned she was in the Columbus area and was battling cancer.  Jill Phipps and I went  to see her, and her mom greeted us like it was just yesterday since we had last talked.  Jeanne was upbeat even though she was very ill.  I had the priviledge to attend her memorial service which was packed with all of her family (her husband and children, along with her mom and brothers, and sister), students and friends she had made over the years, a true testament to her goodness and gifts.  She along with the rest of our classmates is greatly missed.

I did not know Mitch well, but he lives in my memories of my childhood and therefore touched my life in some way.
